In the thick of tiredness and all-consuming love, it passes by in a blur you can’t get back.
One minute you’re folding tiny onesies and counting down the days to meet them.
The next, you’re packing those same outfits away because they’ve already been outgrown.
That’s the thing about newborns: they’re tiny and sleepy for the shortest time.
Your session with them is your chance to bottle it up, to celebrate their arrival,
and to always remember how magical it felt when their body melted into yours.
What to expect at your Newborn Session
Maxine Stevens' style is classic, allowing the baby to feature in timeless poses. An award-winning newborn photographer, who is highly regarded in the photographic industry.
Newborn photography is a beautiful memento of your precious little baby, snuggled in natural fabrics, capturing their peacefulness as they curl into their adorable baby poses. With every click of the camera, these fleeting moments become timeless treasures, preserving the innocence and wonder of infancy for generations to come. It’s a celebration of new beginnings, a testament to the unconditional love that fills the air whenever you gaze upon your newborn’s portrait.
Before you arrive at the studio, I do ask mums to give baby a FULL feed before you arrive. This is a very important step for a successful session. Otherwise we could spend the whole session trying to feed and settle baby.
Your session will usually start with me wrapping baby then doing one or set ups with baby only and then I move on to family and sibling photos (if they are included in your purchased package).
Following this, I kindly request that someone collects the other child(ren) (or dad can take them for a drive or to the park) so the Studio can focus on finishing your newborn session, which may take up to 4 hours in total.
All props and wraps for newborn sessions are provided by the Studio, no need to bring anything for your baby,
unless you have a special moment you wish to include.
Depending on your package purchased, your session will consist of up to 4-5 set ups, usually this is a variety of bowls, buckets, baskets and the cute little beds we have in the Studio. Your colours for your session will be chosen by yourself on the booking form and you are also welcome to request a certain prop that you adore.
It is requested that you please bring a dummy and extra milk (especially if you are still trying to tackle breastfeeding). Working with a hungry baby or one that wants to ‘suckle’ is challenging and I always want to ensure they are comfortable and relaxed. I do keep extra New dummies and Miltons as back up in the studio.
The best time to photograph newborn is under 14 days new.
Most of my mums book their session in the 2nd Trimester in order to secure a booking on my calendar.
I am a full time predominantly Newborn Photographer, so I limited my bookings per month in order to accommodate babies early and late arrivals. Thus making my calendar flexible.

All costs are included in the packages below. Newborn Sessions are held at my studio in Pretoria. Pricing is the same for multiples. Sessions require a 50% deposit to secure your place, and the balance two days before the session. *Payment plans are available, please enquire.

You need to have sufficient space in a room for my props set up and lighting, the room needs to be warmed to a set temperature. I will communicate this and more information upon enquiry.

Extended family
The family package only includes
2 family members - adults and older siblings.
Should you wish to include grandparents or a special god mother into the session, you welcome to bring them along, for an additional R200 per person.

BOOKING
Newborn Timing
Our Newborn Sessions are done between 5 -14 days after birth. During the first few weeks, babies will spend most of their time sleeping allowing us to pose and work with them.
Ideally you should book your newborn session between 20 -30 weeks to ensure that you can secure a booking.
I take a maximum of 10 bookings a month, allowing flexibility for the babies that come early or late.

Studio schedule
Newborn Sessions are done exclusively during the week from Monday - Friday.
*Saturday sessions - an additional R500
Sessions start at 09:00
The duration is dependant on your type of package.
IN STUDIO
What's included
My studio is continually growing and is fully stocked with newborn clothes, wraps, bonnets, beanies, headbands, teddies, wraps, beds, buckets, baskets and so so much more. You don't need to purchase / bring along anything additional
I do also have a few dresses for mom and little girls. Please enquire for sizes and colours.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
After your session
You will receive a sneak peak of a few images (# is subject to photographer). shared on social media*.
3 weeks after your session your gallery will be fully edited and uploaded to a private password protected online gallery where you can make the final selection to your gallery in your own time.
Express editing + R500 images will be edited within 1 week.
Additional images can be purchased at R150p/image
PRODUCTS

No products will be ordered, unless 100% payment has been received.
